The C++ language has two main components: a direct mapping of hardware features provided primarily by the C subset, and zero-overhead abstractions based on those mappings. Stroustrup describes C++ as "a light-weight abstraction programming language [designed] for building and using efficient and elegant abstractions"; and "offering both hardware access and abstraction is the basis of C++. Doing it efficiently is what distinguishes it from other languages".

Overview:

The C++ programming language was designed as a higher level version of C, providing support for object-oriented programming. C++ is regarded as a middle-level language, as it comprises a combination of both high-level and low-level language features. C++ was developed by Bjarne Stroustrup starting in 1979 at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, New Jersey, as an enhancement to the C language and originally named C with Classes but later it was renamed C++ in 1983.

Course Objective:

Understand the Object Orientation of Programming Language and the most important thing to do when learning C++ is to focus on concepts and not get lost in language technical details. The purpose of learning object oriented programming language is to become a better programmer; that is, to become more effective at designing and implementing new systems and at maintaining old ones.

Prerequisites:

Knowledge in basic's of C programming language.
